The donation was presented to Children’s Hospital officials today at their community partner, Neighborhood Bike Works in the Haddington neighborhood.

Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $5.7 million to Children’s Hospital through Kohl’s Cares®.

“Kohl’s has been a dedicated supporter of children’s health and is making a difference here in Philadelphia. With Kohl’s support, our safety and education efforts continue to reach more children each year,” said Marla Vanore, director of Trauma and Injury Prevention Program at Children’s Hospital. “Along with the donations which allow us to continue injury prevention programs, Kohl’s associates also volunteer on a regular basis to make many of our community outreach events a success.”

Kohl’s grant to support multiple safety initiatives and programs

This year's Kohl’s grant will support the hospital’s Safety Center and Mobile Safety Center as well as car seat safety checks, advertising programs and educational materials brought to the Philadelphia region. The grant will also support injury prevention programs with community partners, such as Neighborhood Bike Works and the Philadelphia Fire Department.

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to children in the United States. The Kohl's Injury Prevention Program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is dedicated to preventing injuries in children. Through Kohl’s generous support, the Injury Prevention Program is able to offer expert online information and resources, local kids safety events in the greater Philadelphia area, a Safety Center dedicated to childhood injury prevention, and a mobile safety center offering child safety products such as car seats, bike helmets and home safety products at low prices. In addition, our health educators provide free injury prevention information.

Kohl's commitment to The Children’s Hospital is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $180 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares® features the Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,100 young volunteers with a total of $410,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 385,000 associates have donated more than 1.2 million hours of their time since 2001 and Kohl’s has donated more than $35 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations. Kohl’s also offers fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations.
