Home Safety Products

The Safety Center offers a variety of home safety products, including baby gates; cabinet and drawer locks; doorknob, outlet and stove knob covers; finger and table edge guards.

Baby Proofing Your Home

If your baby is crawling or walking, we recommend baby proofing your home. There are a couple of ways to do that:

  • Try to install a hardware mounted gate at the top and bottom of all stairs.
  • Lock lower cabinets containing harmful chemicals and cleansers.
  • Keep bathroom doors closed.
  • Mount TV’s and furniture to the walls.

Fire Safety

We recommend homes all have a fire extinguisher, a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm. The Safety Center offers all of these Fire safety products, plus two-story and three-story fire escape ladders. We can also show families example fire escape plan, which we recommend families practice at least once a month. Learn more about Fire Safety Tips

Safety Helmets

Bike helmet fitting In retail stores, helmets are sized by age, but here at the Safety Center, we measure each child or adult’s head to make sure the helmet fits correctly. The Safety Center offers bicycle and sports safety products including bike, multi-sport and ski helmets, as well as elbow, wrist and knee pads.

A properly fitted helmet should sit level on the head and low on the forehead, about one or two fingers-widths above the eyebrows. The side straps should form a V around the ear, with the bottom of the V just under the earlobe (see inset picture). Learn more about Bike Safety
