Being prepared for your child's visit at the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at CHOP will ensure a smooth check-in and prevent unnecessary delays. Use the links below to go directly to the information you need:
Please make sure you bring the following to your child's first appointment:
If your insurance company requires a referral before your child can be examined at CHOP, please contact your child's primary care provider. The provider will need to know the date of your child's upcoming visit, orthopedic provider numbers and which CHOP Care Network your child is being seen at. Referrals need to be in place at the time of your child's appointment at CHOP or the visit may be delayed or rescheduled.
The Division of Orthopedic Surgery offers outpatient appointments at eight locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including the Divisions' outpatient area on the second floor of the Wood Building at CHOP's Main Campus.
For information about which orthopedic physicians and specialty programs are available at each CHOP location, see our orthopedic locations.
If your child's appointment is in the Wood Building, this information may be helpful:
Depending on your child's medical needs, your child's appointment may be scheduled at one of our seven specialty care centers across the region.
When you arrive for your child's visit, please register your child with our staff at the front desk. We encourage you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so we can review all of your paperwork and ask any additional questions.
If you arrive late, you risk being seen later or having your appointment rescheduled. Please call us at 215-590-1527 if you are running late. If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us 72 hours notice. Another family will be grateful for your time.
All of the healthcare professionals and employees at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are dedicated to providing the best care to your child and your family, and to making your experience with us as comfortable as possible.
