Overview

This conference will bring together a community of healthcare professionals for a day of connection through literature, poetry and art. The conference will host clinicians who are writers, poets and artists for talks, small group sessions and panel discussions and will include a story slam. The conference is open to the entire healthcare community and will appeal to those interested in harnessing the power of the humanities to find joy and meaning in their work and build community and connection. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in guided writing workshops, poetry and art appreciation and learning to write for advocacy. Participants can also enter a story slam competition where select stories related to work in healthcare will be presented to the audience.

Objectives

  1. Use narrative skills to voice personal and professional experiences in healthcare.
  2. Develop listening and observation skills to improve delivery of humanistic healthcare.
  3. Use literature, poetry, and art to find meaning, joy, and connection in their professional lives.

Healthcare Professionals - $100
Trainees and Students - $50

Accreditation

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

Interested in telling a story?
A Story Slam will be held at the end of the conference. We invite submissions of a story related to your work or experience in healthcare. You can also nominate a colleague as a storyteller. Stories should be told in 5minutes and should respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
