Kathleen Lane, MPH is the Associate Director, Health Policy, Strategy, and Engagement for the Government Affairs team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Background

As Associate Director of Health Policy, Strategy, and Engagement, Kathleen provides leadership identifying, executing, and growing CHOP’s policy agenda related to pediatric healthcare access, social determinants of health, health equity, and behavioral health. She cultivates relationships with key policy leaders, stakeholders, and allies at all levels of government, as well as collaborates directly with stakeholders across CHOP providing health policy impact analysis and facilitating advocacy efforts.

Kathleen was hired in 2020 as the Reach Out and Read Policy Manager, where she managed a three-year, statewide advocacy project funded by the William Penn Foundation. Prior to joining CHOP, she was a graduate student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health studying social and behavioral science. While working towards her degree, Katie was an intern in the Office of Government Relations at Boston Children's Hospital, a health equity summer fellow in the Community Health Improvement Department at the Cambridge Health Alliance, and a part-time associate with the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.

Earlier in her career, she was a senior business analyst at Truven Health Analytics in their Federal Health and Human Services Division in Washington, D.C., where she supported projects with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Kathleen is passionate about improving the lives of children and families, particularly in Philadelphia. She serves on the young professional advisory council of Children’s First and is an active member of the Philadelphia 2nd Ward Committee. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Spanish from Franklin & Marshall College and a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
