This seminar focuses on Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. The lectures are prepared by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia staff in weeklong modules that are prepared in affiliation with the American Austrian Foundation Open Medical Institute and presented in Salzburg, Austria. The lectures of this seminar are in the order they were presented.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to apply the concept of a high reliability organization to situational awareness in healthcare, describe effective rapid response teams in different units, and apply new techniques to improve detection of clinical deterioration.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to identify personal assumptions about education, describe selected theories of education, apply these theories and assumptions to their medical education activities and gain familiarity with selected frameworks in the science of learning and education.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to explain the success and failure rates of difficult airway management, explain the factors associated with complications of airway management, and identify strategies to improve outcomes when managing difficult airways.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to describe the evolution of technology for medical education, identify how various learning theories and frameworks inform technology’s use in education and utilize select tools and applications to support current learning in medical education and lifelong learning.
