Home for the Holidays after Heart Surgery

After a prenatal diagnosis of a heart defect, Caroline was born in our Garbose Special Delivery Unit in February 2020 - right before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic - and underwent heart surgery at just 5 days old. With a year full of challenges, including multiple surgeries and procedures all while being away from home in Fredericksburg, VA, Caroline has been a bright light, and her family was thrilled to be able to celebrate the holidays at home, together.
