Advanced Skills Program

The Pediatrics Residency Program has developed an optional learning opportunity that allows residents to enhance their understanding and skills in a subset of academic areas. This longitudinal curriculum taps into residents’ areas of interest, and takes advantage of faculty expertise and enthusiasm, to offer a structured but flexible variety of experiences that include mentoring sessions, apprenticeship/observership, guided reading and discussion, as well as hands-on projects.

Residents are recognized at graduation for their enhanced studies in one of the nine skills domains:

  1. Behavioral and Mental Health
  2. Clinical Informatics
  3. Clinical Research
  4. Medical Education
  5. POCUS
  6. QI Patient Safety, and Operations
  7. Social Media
