About the Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational Therapy at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia helps children from infancy to young adulthood facing the physical effects of illness and injury, and genetic and developmental disorders. 

Occupational therapists are trained to help their patients achieve independence in all areas of their lives. Our team will work with your child to enhance participation in every day activities, including play and sports, so she can return to home, school or work.

Our services 

Our staff offers a wide range of specialty assessment and rehabilitation services, including:

  • Progression of developmental skills, including feeding
  • Cognition and visual-perception
  • Fine motor skills and upper extremity use
  • Sensory processing
  • Strengthening and conditioning
  • Retraining of life skills
  • Assistive technology
  • Burn intervention and scar management
  • Compensatory and/or adaptive techniques, including fabrication of splints and other adaptive devices
