Updated “State Policies” webpage
State-based vaccine policies change regularly, making it challenging to keep up with current guidance. But Immunize.org can help with that! The Immunize.org team has compiled state immunization requirements on their website, and they update the information annually. Vaccine advocates, public health officials, clinicians, families and policymakers can find information ranging from state immunization requirements for school entry, state-specific vaccine exemption policies, and links to each state’s relevant immunization information.
“Communicating with H.E.A.R.T. in Public Health”
The Public Health Communications Collaborative (PHCC) first published “Communicating with H.E.A.R.T in Public Health” in 2024 to provide practical considerations for empathetic communications. This guide has now been updated and expanded. The acronym reminds communicators of the many ways to center empathy and compassion.
- H: Humility, Honesty
- E: Engagement, Equity
- A: Accessibility, Authenticity
- R: Resonance, Reach
- T: Transcreation, Transparency
The guide reviews active listening, questions communicators can pose to themselves when preparing materials, and five examples of putting H.E.A.R.T. to work.
HPV Videos
The Global Initiative Against HPV and Cervical Cancer (GIAHC) has launched a new series of educational videos for parents focused on protecting girls in India from cervical cancer. The first video, A Call to Arms: The War Against Cervical Cancer, describes the impact of cervical cancer worldwide and the effectiveness of the vaccine, and it includes a recommendation to vaccinate children on time. The second video, Why Get the Cervical Cancer Vaccine, is an emotional story told from a mother’s perspective chronicling her cervical cancer diagnosis, and her motivation to ensure that her daughters did not have to go through what she did.
Currently available in English, the videos will be available in Hindi soon.
Check out the videos or share with your patients who have questions about HPV vaccine.
Maternal immunization toolkit
As patients and families increasingly get vaccine information on social media, health professionals can reach for ready-to-use social media messaging to promote vaccination. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has created a social media toolkit to promote the four vaccines recommended by ACOG during pregnancy: COVID-19, influenza, RSV and Tdap. Messaging can be posted as is or augmented to include a trusted messenger or more personal voice.
