Do I need to restart the HPV vaccine if I missed a dose?

Paul Offit: Hi, my name is Paul Offit. I'm talking to you today from the Vaccine Education Center here at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Frankly, one of the most common questions we get asked is, “If I missed a dose of vaccine, specifically in this case the HPV or the human papillomavirus vaccine, do I need to start all over again from the beginning of the series?” The answer is no. You can just pick up where you left off and, frankly, that's true for any vaccine. You really can pick up right where you left off. You get credit for the first or second or third dose that you've already gotten, so you can just pick up where you left off.
