Dr. Smith is an associate professor of Pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine, in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Smith completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition, he received specialty training in clinical epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Smith has conducted research on vaccines and antibiotic use, and he has written numerous review articles and book chapters about vaccine safety. Dr. Smith is also involved in the CDC’s Clinical Immunization Safety Project, called CISA. He is co-author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Vaccinations.
