About Angela Wurster, MSN, CRNP

Angela Wurster is the Vice President of Global Strategy and Business Development at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), consistently ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the United States. In this role, she leads CHOP’s Global Medicine and National Outreach teams, building strategic alliances that advance clinical care, education, and research across national and international borders.

A visionary healthcare executive with over 35 years of experience, Angela is known for leading innovation, transformation, and collaborative growth in complex healthcare systems. She has established high-impact partnerships with ministries of health, embassies, U.S. government agencies, insurance providers, healthcare executives, and globally recognized clinicians—expanding access to world-class pediatric care and building sustainable, in-country healthcare capacity.

Angela began her career as a Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU nurse and later served as a Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner at Penn Medicine. Her deep clinical foundation informed a highly successful leadership trajectory, including two decades of strategic and operational leadership in Penn’s Department of Surgery, where she helped shape the region’s first Lung Transplant and Thoracic Surgery programs.

As Chief Operating Officer of Penn’s Ambulatory Network, she oversaw the operations of 55 primary and specialty care practices. Under her leadership, the organization achieved breakthrough performance in patient satisfaction and clinical excellence. In 2019, Angela joined CHOP as Vice President of the Primary Care Network, responsible for the vision and operations of 31 practice locations across the region.

Angela holds a BSN, MSN, and CRNP from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and completed executive leadership programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She actively contributes to CHOP’s enterprise-wide executive committees and represents the organization externally as a member of CHIEF and the U.S. Cooperative for International Patient Programs (USCIPP).

Dedicated to community impact, Angela proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Philabundance, a nonprofit committed to ending hunger in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. She is a frequent speaker and published author on clinical innovation, operational leadership, and healthcare transformation.

Her core strengths include strategic planning and execution, program development, systems redesign, and leadership development. Angela is passionate about empowering individuals and teams to go beyond what they see possible and achieve lasting impact.
