There may be times when your child, while they are hospitalized at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for a medical illness, shows symptoms of a behavioral or mental health condition.

If that happens, CHOP's Behavioral Health Integrated Program team provides comprehensive assessment and brief treatment of mental health needs to keep children and adolescents safe as they recover.

How we serve you

Your child's attending physician may call us for a consultation for:

  • Urgent assessment, intervention and safety planning with mental health crises
  • Evaluation, medication management and brief, evidence-based intervention for mental health needs
  • Evaluation and intervention for eating disorders
  • Intervention for behavioral or emotional concerns that interfere with medical treatment
  • Assessment of new mental health syndromes that result in alteration of mental status
  • Evaluation and treatment of unexplained physical symptoms that may be a result of psychological processes
