If your child has a serious or chronic illness, it often brings stress — to them and the whole family. Our Family Stress and Illness Program provides therapy to optimize your child’s care and health outcomes and to help the entire family adjust to the illness.

Our Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) team offers family and individual therapy for children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 facing acute or chronic health conditions. We help families harness their unique strengths to address the psychological challenges you and your child experience as you cope with illness.

How we serve you

To develop a customized plan for your family, our experts will:

  • Meet with your family to better understand your needs
  • Consult with your child’s doctor(s) to assess existing and potential challenges in managing your child’s illness
  • Provide counseling that supports your family as you begin to implement changes
