Indigenous Health Unit

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) Indigenous Health Unit (IHU) cares for and seeks to improve healthcare for American Indian / Alaska Native / Hawaiian Native (AI/AN/NH) communities in Philadelphia and across the nation. With services provided through CHOP’s Global Health Center, the IHU gives AI/AN/NH children and adolescents access to culturally centered care to advance their well-being so they can lead healthy lives.
How we serve you
We work closely with the AI/AN/NH community to understand the community’s pediatric health priorities and concerns. We aim to address these issues through a range of pediatric clinical care services that are provided by staff who have undergone culturally appropriate training. In addition, in collaboration with the federal government and Indian Tribes, we work to optimize pediatric emergency care for AI/AN/NH youth.
