About the Myelitis and Myelopathy Clinic

The Myelitis and Myelopathy Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia combines expertise from neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapy, and nursing and social work to maximize diagnostic evaluation, clinical care, and outcomes of children with various spinal cord inflammatory disorders including transverse myelitis (TM) and acute flaccid myelitis (AFM).

Given the rarity of TM, AFM and other conditions impacting the spinal cord, patients and families often find it difficult to get answers about their condition and prognosis. The presence of a dedicated team to move diagnosis and care forward is invaluable for our patients. We are passionate about caring for our patients, deeply committed to providing cutting-edge collaborative care, and dedicated to participating in research to advance the care of children with these conditions.

As part of the CHOP-PENN Age-Span Neuroimmune Program, the Myelitis and Myelopathy Clinic is designed to support your child’s needs from the time of diagnosis until they transition to adult care.
