This pathway is to be used for children with 22q11.2 deletion/duplication syndromes, who are at risk for potentially life-threatening hypocalcemia, particularly at times of physiological stress such as surgery and anesthesia receiving elective or emergent procedures in the inpatient, ICU and outpatient surgical locations.

As these children require numerous surgical procedures and anesthesia episodes for multiple associated medical conditions, recommendations for monitoring and treatment peri-operatively vary significantly, potentially impacting length of stay, risk of unplanned admission or readmission, and patient satisfaction.
