SW Assessment

  • Completed on all patients
  • Includes screening for:
    • Mental Health issues
    • Sex-trafficking risk

Recommendations for Mandatory Reporting to Child Protective Services and Police

Police Report
  • Report based on history, disclosure
  • Presence of injuries
  • Nonconsensual sex with +STI, pregnant, or deadly weapon used
  • Forensic evidence is collected
CPS Report Required
  • Clear disclosure from the child/adolescent
  • Any nonconsensual sexual activity
  • Concerning medical findings
  • Caregiver is perpetrator
  • Child is ≤ 13 yrs, discloses consensual/nonconsensual sex
  • Non consensual sex with+ STI test, pregnant, or deadly weapon used
  • Sex Trafficking Suspected
    • Select yes for the following question of the Childline Report:
      • Do you suspect the alleged incident involved child trafficking?
  • Call 1-800-932-0313 to make the report if immediate services
  • Needed from the human trafficking unit
