Goals and Metrics
Goals
- Enable early identification, testing, and treatment of children presenting with weakness consistent with AFM
- Maximize yield of testing, anticipate complications, and emphasize early, appropriate treatment
- Schedule follow up tests, (EMG and repeat MRI) which may improve prognostication
- Consult Rehabilitation Medicine early to initiate rehabilitation program, educate patient, family
Metrics
- Increase patients with spinal MRI ordered and performed within 24 hours of presentation
- Increase patients with enteroviral testing within 24 hours of presentation
- Decrease time to treatment
- Increase % of cases reported to CDC within 2 days of diagnosis
- Increase early involvement of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation consultation team
