Screen for Malignancy

A small percentage of anti-NMDARE cases in children > 12 may be associated with testicular/ovarian teratoma.

Type
Initial Imaging
  • Female: ultrasound of the pelvis
  • Male: ultrasound of the testicles
Subsequent Imaging Female: MRI of pelvis with contrast
Frequency
  • If good recovery:
    • Prepubertal females and all males: only at diagnosis
    • Postpubertal females: annually up to 2 years
  • If poor recovery: annually up to 5 years
