Cardiac Arrest, Post CPR — Disposition — Clinical Pathway: ICU

Post-CPR Clinical Pathway — PICU, CICU and N/IICU

Disposition

All children recovering from their cardiac arrest have varying medical and social needs. Children may, for example, be dependent on new technologies, face neuropsychiatric difficulties, and deal with social challenges after their acute and subacute medical concerns have stabilized. Given these anticipated changes, all post-arrest children should be evaluated for services/support from the following:

  • Rehabilitation (PM&R)
    • Evaluation and management for dysautonomia, spasticity
    • Short- and long-term recovery
  • Neurology
    • Management of seizures/epilepsy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Recovery and Return (R2) Clinic
