Low-profile Feeding Tubes and Extension Sets

Manufacturers for Low-profile Feeding Tubes

Applied Medical Technologies (AMT) AMT MiniOne
AVANOS/Medical Innovation Corporation (MIC) MIC-KEY

Background

  • MIC-KEY tubes may be provided to families as a backup to AMT MiniOne from their DME companies.
  • The AMT right-angle connector set and straight set are interchangeable with the MIC-KEY tubes. There may be a slight amount of play if using one company's set on the other tube type. It is preferred not to mix components if available.
  • See G Tubes, GJ Tubes, J Tubes Job Aid for ordering information regarding the extension sets.
Note: Micro G-JET and G-JET utilize the same extension sets as the above tubes for the J-PORT but have a specialized G-Port extension.
  • Regardless of manufacturer (AMT or MIC), ENFIT only refers to the distal end of the connector, not the connection to the low-profile tube where it meets the stoma.

Application of the Extension Set

  • The small protrusion on the extension set fits the small notch identified by the line on the top of the low-profile tube.
  • If this protrusion is worn down, the extension set will not latch.
  • The extension set should stop after a ¾ turn.
  • If the provider uses excessive force when attaching the set, they may force the extension to turn through the ¾ stop mark and disengage or leak.
