Goals
- To standardize the care & management of gastrostomy, gastro-jejunostomy, and jejunostomy stomas, peristomal skin, and tubes
- To provide clinical decision support for providers and nurses who care for patients with gastrostomy, gastro-jejunostomy, and jejunostomy tubes
- To improve communication among subspecialists who co-manage gastrostomy, gastro-jejunostomy, and jejunostomy stomas, peristomal skin and tubes
Metrics
- Decrease variability in gastrostomy site and tube management among subspecialty services
- Decrease number of skin injuries related to gastrostomy tubes
- Improve communication among subspecialty teams that are co-managing gastrostomy sites and tubes
- Decrease length of stay for patients admitted for gastrostomy site injuries or tube malfunctions
- Improve outpatient management of gastrostomy sites and tubes, therefore decreasing hospital admissions related to gastrostomy site injuries and tube malfunction
