Neonates with Hyperbilirubinemia/Jaundice Clinical Pathway
Infants ≥ 35 Weeks Gestation with Hyperbilirubinemia/Jaundice
Recommendations were adapted from the 2022 AAP Guidelines and local expert consensus.
This pathway guides the care for infants in the nursery, N/IICU, primary care, ED, and inpatient setting with:
- Visible jaundice or history of or documented elevated TSB
- Age < 21 days
- Gestational ≥ 35 week
Exclusions
- Gestational Age < 35 weeks
- Age ≥ 21 days
- Concern for other associated illnesses:
- Infection
- Cardiac disease
- Metabolic disease etc.
Differential Diagnosis for Neonatal Jaundice
Consultation with Gastroenterology/Hepatology is recommended for:
- Direct bilirubin concentration > 1.0 mg/dL
- Conjugated bilirubin ≥ 0.3 mg/dL
