Inflammatory Bowel Disease with Iron Deficiency and Anemia Clinical Pathway — All Settings

Assess Disease Activity

Active IBD

Presence of:
  • Clinical symptoms
  • Growth impairment
  • Endoscopic or imaging evidence of inflammation
  • Labs consistent with inflammation:
    • ESR > 20 mm/h
    • CRP > 0.5 mg/dL
    • Hypoalbuminemia (based on age reference)
    • Calprotectin > 250 ug/g

Note that normal serum acute phase proteins and/or lack of clinical symptoms does not ensure that disease is in remission.
