Malnutrition, Weight Loss and Eating Disorders Clinical Pathway — ICU and Inpatient
Higher Level of Care
Referral is determined by behavioral health recommendations and in collaboration with family and medical team. Considerations for HLOC referrals include enteral feed dependence, co-morbidities, chronicity, family and patient preference.
- Social Work to coordinate placement and insurance
- Case management to coordinate transport if needed for safety
- When possible, given geography and insurance, we try to refer pediatric patients to pediatric facilities
Inpatient
- Highest level of care with medical oversight and psychiatric support (not a medical hospitalization)
Residential
- Not locked
- Usually longer duration
- Intensive psychological support (less medical support than psychological support)
Partial hospitalization (PHP)
- 5-6 days/week, 6-8 hours/day
- Meal and therapeutic support
Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
- Up to 3 days/week, up to 4 hours/day
- Meal and therapeutic support
