Discharge Criteria and Planning

Criteria: Review with Mitochondrial Medicine
  • Maintain normal bicarbonate level (> 16 mmol/L) with enteral supplements
  • As long as bicarbonate is within normal limits (> 16 mmol/L), lactate level should not be a deciding factor in patient disposition (i.e. as long as acidosis is resolved, ok to discharge with elevated lactate)
  • At neurologic baseline
  • Meeting all fluids and nutritional needs on a home feeding regimen

Follow-up

Follow up appointment will be determined by the Mito Team following discharge. mmfp@.chop.edu (to schedule new* or follow-up appointment from ED) *new patients will require detailed intake and records unless internal referral
