Micrognathia-Retrognathia Clinical Pathway — N/IICU and ICU

Airway Considerations

  • To identify a difficult/critical airway, the following are considered:
    • Clinical exam
    • Prior intubation history
    • Microlaryngoscopy bronchoscopy (MLB) at time of mandibular distraction osteogenesis
  • Until successful planned extubation, follow the Difficult/Critical Airway pathway
    • Neonate/infant typically remain intubated one week post-operatively
    • Prior to extubation, discuss with Plastic Surgery
