Clinical Labor Pool for ED Services

As part of the hospital’s MCI response, a labor pool, consisting of clinical care providers, will form in the hospital’s atrium
The primary purpose of this labor pool will be to assist the staff in the ED
Residents and nurses from around the hospital will form the labor pool, with each unit contributing as many staff members as they are able to given current their census and average patient acuity
ED leadership will identify a Labor Pool Leader who will go to the atrium and organize the assembled staff into critical care and non-critical care teams
The Labor Pool Leader will immediately send two critical care and five non-critical care teams into the ED to assist. After those initial seven teams are dispatched, the Labor Pool Leader will send additional teams to the ED as needed/requested
