History

Onset of Fever
Symptoms of Infectious Disease

Cough, congestion
Sore throat, mouth ulcers
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Oral intake, urine output
Ill contacts

Oncology History

Type of cancer
Stage of treatment
Recent chemotherapy – date, drug
Surgeries
Complications
History of prior infections

Other past medical history
Medicines
Allergies

Physical Examination

  • General appearance, VS with pulse oximetry
  • Circulatory status: HR, BP, capillary refill
  • Look for signs of infection:
    • Oropharynx
    • Line site, wounds, rash
    • Perineum, no rectal exam
    • Skin
