Gather Equipment

RN, Tech or SNA to Gather the Following Equipment

Equipment Needed (for Both Procedures)
  • Procedure cart -includes hats, masks, sterile gloves, sterile gowns
  • Exchange transfusion tray
  • Primary blood set - Primary blood #180438
  • T-connector
  • Alcohol wipes/site scrubs
  • Glucometer
  • 4 soft infant restraints (if needed)
Arterial and Venous Access Additional Equipment
  • IV infusion pumps: CareFusion PC Unit and LVP module
  • Heparinized saline bag and transducer set up (will be used for flushes of withdrawal catheter)
  • Sterile syringes (size to be determined based on volume to be withdrawn-i.e. if withdraw volume 7 mL use 10 mL syringe, if 18 mL use a 30 mL syringe)
  • Sterile 10 mL saline flush syringes (2)
Venous Access only Additional Equipment
  • Sterile syringes (size to be determined based on volume to be withdrawn-i.e. if withdraw volume 7 mL use 10 mL syringe, if 18 mL use a 30 mL syringe)
  • Sterile 10 mL saline flush syringes (2)
