Penicillin Drug Allergy Clinical Pathway — All Settings

Characteristics of Rashes Unlikely Secondary to Drug Allergy

  • Rash onset > 5 days into course
  • Rash is maculopapular
  • No hives
  • No pruritus
  • No other symptoms
  • Well appearing

If all criteria above fulfilled, penicillin allergy may be removed, and patient may be given penicillin antibiotic.
