Sepsis Clinical Pathway — Emergency Department, Inpatient and PICU

Inpatient EHR Sepsis Alert and Sepsis Huddle

Sepsis BPAs are data driven automated systems integrated within EHR to improve sepsis recognition. BPAs prompt assessments and bedside huddles with provider staff.

The Inpatient Sepsis BPA continuously monitors multiple parameters documented within the EHR to determine if new signs of sepsis or septic shock are present for those patients on 8S/8C.

Inpatient 1st Stage Alert

Alert appears if two out of three criteria are met: fever or hypothermia, hypotension, or a sustained change in respiratory rate.
