Suspected Stroke Clinical Pathway — Emergency Department

Call 4-CODE (PHL and KOPH)

The clinician calling the CODE LINE will be asked the following questions by the Transport Communications Center specialist to allow the neurology stroke team provider to call the clinician back urgently.

Provide transport communication center with the following information:

  • Specific location: campus/building/floor/unit/room
  • Patient Name and MRN
  • Provider call back phone #

Notification will be sent to the neuro stroke team that includes the neurology resident (1st contact) and the neurology attending (2nd contact)

Transfer Guidance

  • Concerns for stroke from OSHs go through the Transport Communications Center normal processes
  • The Transport Communications Center will contact the neurology physician designated by Epic Secure Chat as Neuro Stroke Team (1st contact)
  • That starts the necessary Epic Secure Chat communication string, which can then have all relevant/necessary clinicians/staff added by whomever to relay important clinical and transfer/transport info
