Exposure, Maintain Normothermia

Goal

Remove all clothing immediately upon arrival and maintain normothermia (36°C- 37.5°C) in the patient.

Interventions

  • Maintain Trauma Room Temperature to 80°F at all times
  • Rapidly obtain core temperature measurement per ED Nursing Vital Signs Procedure
  • Apply warm blankets as soon as possible considering patient exam and procedural needs
  • Warm fluids and blood products
  • Consult with providers to determine need for active rewarming in the hypothermic patient, considering:
