Prepare Patient for Transport

For Safe Transport

  • Apply ID band
  • Gather Transport Equipment:
    • Airway Box and Airway Suction
    • Emergency Medications
    • Syringe Bag
    • Additional Suction per patient need (NG/OG/Chest Tube)
    • Patient Chart
    • Verify full O2 tank
  • Immediately prior to transport convert to Transport Monitor and Portable O2

Conduct Safety Time Out: To be done by Team Leader (Trauma Fellow / EM attending/ED RN Trauma Lead)

  • Identify Patient and ensure ID band in place.
  • Verify presence of emergency equipment and readiness to travel.
  • Identify mechanism of injury and currently known or suspected injuries.
  • Identify correct labs ordered and send.
  • Verify correct imaging ordered and scanner ready.
  • Verify potential disposition plan.
