Goals
- Standardize recommendations for screening febrile children for UTI
- Use a bag to collect urine in children 6 mos – 6 years to decrease the need for catheterization
- Indications for empiric treatment
- Antibiotics recommended for empiric treatment
Metrics
- Rate of bag collection method to screen children 2 months to 6 years
- Number of patients spared catheterization
- Percent of patients meeting UA criteria for empiric treatment, treated with cephalexin
- Chart review of a cohort of febrile children 6 months to 2 years to evaluate appropriateness of UA screening
- Monitor time to obtain bagged urine specimen (Room arrival to urine POC completed)
