Inpatient Re-evaluation

Continued Neurosurgery Care

  • Neurosurgery will follow the patient every 6 to 8 hours for the first 24 hours of hospitalization. When called by the admitting service, the neurosurgical team will respond within 15 minutes and will come to the bedside within an hour of being contacted to examine and discuss the patient with the admitting team. The neurosurgery attending will sign the note within 24 hours.

Indications for neurosurgical re-consultation:

  • Recurrent symptoms
  • Change in mental status
  • New evidence of pain
  • New signs or symptoms consistent with malfunction
