Keeping Kids with Diabetes Safe in School and Community Settings

CHOP’s Diabetes Center for Children is ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the country for diabetes and endocrinology care. This one day, in-person course is offered to healthcare and non-healthcare professionals who care for children with diabetes.

Knowledge and skills provided in this course are for:

School health, home care, primary care and behavioral health care professionals
Teachers
Out-of-school time program staff
Case managers
Social workers
Family caregivers

Topics include treatment options for type 1 and type 2 diabetes; self-care management principles; introduction to utilization of diabetes technology (insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring systems) to improve diabetes health outcomes; the emotional impact for families dealing with a diabetes diagnosis; and identifying resources for patients and families managing diabetes.

This activity is pending approval of ANCC contact hours. CHOP is jointly accredited by the ACCME, ACPE, and the ANCC to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
