Guidelines for Using Family Lounge Refrigerators and Freezers
At CHOP, we know that having access to food and snacks is important during your child’s stay. To keep everyone safe and ensure food is stored properly, we have a few guidelines for using the unit refrigerators and freezers. These rules help prevent food-borne illness, avoid mix-ups, and make sure there’s enough space for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our shared spaces clean, safe, and organized!
- This fridge is for families to store leftovers and food from outside CHOP.
- To keep food fresh and prevent mix-ups, all items must be sealed and labeled with a green sticker, including:
- Patient name
- Room number
- Date
- Any food without a date will be thrown away, as we assume it is past the 2-day limit.
- To keep our space safe and organized, all labeled food will be discarded after 2 days.
- If you need help or have concerns, please talk with your nursing team.
