CHOP's board-certified doctors and nurses treat babies, children and teens at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center (PMC) as part of an ongoing alliance to provide expert care, close to home.
Parents and children now have access to world-class pediatric healthcare right in their own community at PMC. Through this partnership, physicians and other health professionals from CHOP work on-site with the physicians and clinical staff of PMC to provide exceptional care for your child.
Pediatric services available at PMC include:
- Pediatric emergency care
- Inpatient pediatric care
- Neonatal care
A CHOP pediatrician is in the Emergency Department every day from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m., during the hours when children visit most frequently. A pediatrician from CHOP will continue to be in the hospital at all other times, easily accessible for consultations on pediatric emergencies.
CHOP provides a pediatric hospitalist on-site 24/7 to care for children and adolescents who are admitted to PMC's Pediatric Unit. A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital and who does not have an outpatient medical practice. The CHOP pediatric hospitalist program supports the work of pediatricians on staff at PMC.
CHOP neonatologists and certified neonatal nurses provide 24/7 care in the 14-bed, Level II Special Care Nursery at the PMC. The medical center features individual patient rooms to enhance patient privacy and family-centered care. CHOP staff can treat premature and full-term infants with respiratory failure, sepsis, jaundice and other neonatal conditions that require special care. PMC has a strong breastfeeding program and is on the path toward UNICEF/WHO Baby Friendly designation.
In addition to providing exceptional care for babies and children, PMC is a national leader in maternity care, delivering more than 2,000 babies each year. The medical center has ranked among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the U.S. for maternity care for four consecutive years, and has received the HealthGrades' Maternity Care Excellence Award.
PMC's perinatologists are affiliated with Penn Medicine and can provide care and consultative services to high-risk obstetrical patients.
