Emily Gillespie was always an active kid. In June 2016, she was at the height of her ballet career when she began having episodes of minor headaches, vision changes, and heard a "whooshing" noise in her ears. The symptoms persisted, and it wasn't until she underwent surgery with Shih-Shan Lang Chen, MD, an attending neurosurgeon in the Division of Neurosurgery and an Associate Director with the Trauma Center at CHOP, did she begin to feel better.
