Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s second annual Delivery Room of the Future Conference was held in May 2025. We also held a pre-conference “think tank” where participants from across the country shared experiences and ideas around the care of newborns with congenital differences in the delivery room.
The conference had a vast array of speakers from different countries, professional backgrounds and expertise who covered various topics. The conference had four main sessions.
They focused on:
- Ways to improve the family experience, use genetic information and navigate uncertainty.
- The use of novel devices in the delivery room: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), oxygen feedback systems, video-review and neuromonitoring.
- Ways to enhance team well-being through the understanding of culture, interventions to enhance hope, trust and belonging, and adapting principles of positive psychology to debriefings.
- A panel discussion on approaches to care of newborns with specific congenital anomalies in the delivery room.
We look forward to our third annual conference (dates to be announced in late summer 2025).
