Thermoregulation Clinical Pathway — PICU and PCU
Thermoregulation Clinical Pathway — PICU and PCU
Goals
- Prevent:
- Complications of severe hyperthermia > 40.5°C
- Fever in children who are neurologically injured
- Effectively induce and maintain hypothermia when clinically appropriate
- Rewarm the hypothermic child to goal temperature slowly and safely
Metrics
- No fever — core temperature maintained < 38°C for neurologically injured children
- % with fever > 40.5°C who defervesce within two hours
- % with moderate or severe hypothermia who are rewarmed slowly on protocol
