Children ≥ 12 Months
Inclusion Criteria
Children ≥ 12 months seen in primary care.
Developmental surveillance should occur at every primary care visit.
Goals of autism screening:
- Early identification
- Early initiation of developmental and behavioral therapies
Components of developmental surveillance:
- Asking about developmental/behavioral concerns
- Informal observation
- Monitoring of symptoms in the context of routine health supervision
Using formal developmental screening tools at periodic indicated intervals will increase accuracy.
