Laboratory Studies and Imaging Studies

The front-line clinician team determines the need for and selection of laboratory testing, which varies case by case. Considerations may include:

Initial Additional
  • CBC
  • Type and Screen
  • PT/INR, PTT
  • CMP
  • Gastroccult
  • Hemoccult
  • Fibrinogen
  • TEG (thromboelastogram)
  • VBG w/ lactate
  • Imaging
    • Chest X-ray (2-view)
    • AXR (2 views)
    • RUQ ultrasound with Doppler
      • History of liver disease, organomegaly on exam, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia
