Reduce

  • Antibiotic use for patients with simple abscesses that are drained
  • Use of broad-spectrum antibiotics for patients with simple cellulitis
  • Use of diagnostic ultrasound for patients with uncomplicated draining abscesses
  • ED LOS

Metrics

Percent of

  • Patients with the diagnosis of abscess that have a drainage procedure
  • Discharged patients with a diagnosis of abscess and drainage procedure treated with PO antibiotics
  • Patients with the diagnosis of cellulitis treated with cefazolin or cephalexin as first-line antibiotics
  • 72 hr revisit rate
