Determine ADHD Severity

Severity Level Features/Examples
Mild
  • Symptoms present across multiple domains, minor impact on functioning
  • Small degree of impairment at school and home
    • Calling out in classroom, distracting others, not completing schoolwork
Moderate
  • Symptoms present across settings and the impact is more than mild and less than severe in one or more domains of functioning
  • May be concerns about failing tests, delayed progress in learning, intermittent disciplinary involvement, peer rejection
Severe
  • Symptoms throughout the day with major impact on multiple domains of functioning
  • Failing a class, truancy, school suspension, repeated victim of bullying, social withdrawal
