Emergence and Progression of AGT

This study requires 3 visits to the Main Hospital at CHOP. These visits will be repeated over the span of 5 years. Study participants will be screened to confirm eligibility. A DXA scan measures body composition and will be completed. You will also be asked to complete an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), a Mixed Meal Tolerance Test (MMTT), and a Glucose Potentiated Arginine test (GPA). A series of blood draws will be conducted during each procedure. An OGTT will require consumption of glucola, a sugary drink. The OGTT test measures how the body reacts to sugar and its susceptibility to diabetes. The MMTT will require coordination with a dietician for a meal as this procedure is looking at your body’s response to food. The GPA requires infusion of sugar as well as a naturally occurring amino acid. This tests the body’s ability to make insulin in response to sugar. All procedures require overnight fasting.
